Web 1.0
Personal of institutional sites based on Hyper text
transfer protocol (HTTP) to publish information. They are usually static pages
in which common users can not modify content of participate in any way. Ex. http://www.tesol.org/
Web 2.0
These kinds of pages allow exchange of information
in a dynamic environment because all users can participate in the design and
production of contents. They may also include multiple artifacts. Ex: Yahoo,
Skype, Facebook, msn, etc.
Web 3.0
According to Wikipedia this is a social movement
towards creating accessible contents and multiple APPS that may be used with a
browser. The term was coined by Jeffrey Zeldman, a web 2.0 critic and it is used to promote some
improvements regarding the web 2.0 but it remains still on debate.
On Daniel Rodriguez’s blog he states that by using
the Web 3.0 “we would be able to interact on tridimensional spaces that allow
us to have a 3D vision on the screens.” This is evolving through the movies,
television, internet and one of those attempts might be “Second life”.
The first step taken towards this was the
development of the “Data Web” that allows a new level of integration of data
making them more accessible. This is also the first step for a complete
semantic web. The development of the Web 3.0 is believed to lead us to the
artificial intelligence.
